Coastal GasLink is hosting a summit in Prince George today bringing prospective employees and local businesses together under one roof.
According to a news release, they’re expecting hundreds of people to show up to the event. The Summit will be the largest in a series of events being held across northern B.C., including in First Nations communities.
In keeping with the project’s ‘Local First’ commitment, the summits are intended to connect local business and job seekers with contractors and sub-contractors and highlight potential opportunities and employment with the project as construction progresses over the coming months and years.
Despite the recent controversy and continuing opposition from the Unist’ot’en Camp near Houston BC, the company said pipeline construction is expected to go into full swing 2020.
The summit runs from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm at the Prince George Civic Centre.
