Prince George to host 400 artists for Weavers’ Guild Conference

Upwards to 400 artists from western Canada and the United States will be coming to the Northern Capital in June.

From June 11-16, Prince George Fibre Arts Guild will be putting on the five-day event under the auspices of the Association of Northwest Weavers’ Guilds Conference.

With Prince George hosting the event, it marks just the second time a Canadian city will host the conference in the past 20 years.

The conference has 18 workshops and 76 seminars planned, all ranging in topics from weaving, spinning, felting, knitting, dying, and many more.

Other events set to take place during the conference include a vendor hall, exhibits and awards, fashion show, author signing, tea towel exchange, door prizes, fluff and stuff, spin-ins, and knitting circles.

The themed time of the event will be “Confluences”, which references the geographical and cultural influences of the meeting of two major bodies of water in Prince George, the Fraser and Nechako Rivers.

The conference will take place in facilities situated within walking distance of each other in Prince George’s downtown, including the Prince George Civic Centre, the Prince George Public Library, the Two Rivers Art Gallery, the Coast Inn of the North, and the Marriott Courtyard.

Registration is now open and further information of the event can be found online by clicking here.
