–The Prince George Cougars exploded with five unanswered third period goals in under 10 minutes to double the Tri-City Americans 8-4. Brad Morrison notched two goals and two assists to give him seven points in the last two games. Chase Witala scored his team high 22nd goal in his 200th game before 2,203 hometown fans. 11 different Cats picked up at least one point. It was the first time this season the Cougars won when allowing four or more goals (1-20). The 20-21 Cats move back into a playoff spot holding down third place in the BC Division. The same two teams meet again tonight at CN Centre before Prince George plays Friday and Saturday in Victoria.

UPDATE—The Prince George Cougars acquired Josh Connolly from the Kamloops Blazers for Marc McNulty in a swap of 19-year-old defencemen. Originally selected by the Blazers in the third round (61st overall) in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft, Connolly (5’11”, 178 pounds) has played in 164 career WHL regular season games (all with Kamloops). During that span, he recorded 17 goals, 68 assists and 66 penalty minutes. The former Cariboo Cougar (2010-2012) is currently ranked sixth in WHL scoring for defencemen with 34 points (five goals, 29 assists and 20 penalty minutes) in 39 games played.

–Former PG Cougar Alex Forsberg is on the move again. Forsberg, the Blades leading scorer, has been sent as part of a deal from Saskatoon to the Victoria Royals for a first round bantam pick in 2017.

–The Prince George Spruce Kings start a 3 game Interior road trip Friday in Vernon. The 18-15-0-4 Spruce Kings
also play Saturday in Salmon Arm and Sunday in Penticton before hosting Salmon Arm on Thursday, January 15th.
