BC BANTAM HOCKEY:

The host Prince George North Central Bobcats won the gold medal at Bantam Tier 1 provincial hockey championship at Kin 1.

The Bobcats broke open a 0-0 game with four unanswered goals in the second period to crush the North Vancouver Storm 6-1 in the Thursday night final.

Captain Nico Myatovic scored twice and added two assists to finish with 17 points (six goals) in six games.

Prince George finished with an overall 5-0-1 record in the six-team tournament.

The Bobcats outscored their opposition 22-3 over the last three games and 36-13 overall.

BCHL:

The Prince George Spruce Kings will host either the Victoria Grizzlies or the Powell River Kings in the first two games of the best-of-seven BCHL Coastal Conference Championship on Friday, March 29th and Saturday, March 30th.

Tickets go on sale this morning (Friday) at 10:00.

The Grizzlies and Powell River are tied 2-2 in the Island Division Final, with game five of the best-of-seven series tonight in Victoria.

The Spruce Kings won the Mainland Division Final in four straight over Chilliwack, outscoring the Chiefs 21-3,

The Spruce Kings have won their last 13 games on home ice and 20 of their last 22 games overall.

NHL: (Canadian teams 3-2 on Thursday)

Carey Price made 28 saves for his 44th career shutout (and fourth this season).

The Habs moved into the final Eastern Conference wild-card playoff spot, a point ahead of the Columbus Blue Jackets with both teams having eight games left.

The Vancouver Canucks, winners of their last three, host the Western Conference-leading Calgary Flames on Saturday and the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday.

The 32-32-10 Canucks are tied with the Chicago Blackhawks for 11th in the Western Conference, 4 points behind the Colorado Avalanche and the Arizona Coyotes, who are tied for the final wild-card playoff berth.

Vancouver, with just 8 games remaining (6 home and 2 away), is also three points back of the Minnesota Wild.

Prince George minor hockey teams have concluded or are wrapping play at B.C. championships around the province.

Prince George is 2-3 after a 5-3 victory Thursday over Port Moody at the Bantam Tier 2 in Nanaimo.

P.G. plays its final game in the seven-team tournament this afternoon (Friday) at 12:15 against Nanaimo.

WORLD WOMEN’S CURLING CHAMPIONSHIP:

Canada is 5-6 with one round-robin game left: against Denmark today (Draw 20–11:00 a.m PT).

The top six teams advance to the playoffs, with the top two earning byes to the semifinals.

Rachel Brown of Smithers (who moved to Edmonton in 2006) is the lead on the Canadian team that is skipped by Chelsea Carey of Calgary.

NBA:  

The Toronto Raptors host the (42-30) Oklahoma City Thunder tonight.

The two teams played Wednesday at OKC with Toronto winning 123-114 in overtime.

The (51-21) Raptors are second in the NBA Eastern Conference, 2 games behind the (53-19) Milwaukee Bucks with 10 games left for each team.
