Ministry of Environment, Northern Health extends dust and air quality advisories for PG

It looks like the air quality and dust advisories for Prince George may stretch into the weekend.

The advisory has been extended by the Ministry of Environment and Northern Health.

It’s due to higher volumes of fine particulate matter in the air, most notably PM 2.5 and PM 10.

Air Quality Meteorologist, Gail Roth expects the conditions to improve shortly.

“There is a front moving through the area starting later tonight and tomorrow so with that change in weather system we’re hoping to see some improvements with a little bit more and precipitation that will certainly help those conditions.”

Those fine particulate matters are especially dangerous for infants, the elderly and those who have diabetes and lung or heart disease.

If you are experiencing symptoms such as continuing eye or throat irritation, chest discomfort, shortness of breath, cough or wheezing, follow the advice of your health care provider.
