For the first time this season the Prince George Cougars lost a game that was decided beyond regulation time. Tyler Soy scored at 1:03 of overtime to give the Victoria Royals a 3-2 victory over the Cougars. Both of the PG goals came shorthanded in the first period from Chase Witala and Aaron Boyd. The two teams have a rematch tonight (Saturday) in Victoria.

-–The PG Cougars have acquired the CHL Rights to 17-year-old forward Brogan O’Brien from the Kelowna Rockets in exchange for 20-year-old forward Chance Braid. O’Brien is playing this season with the PG Spruce Kings

–The Prince George Spruce Kings suffered their 4th straight loss as they dropped a 5-3 decision to the Vernon Vipers. The Vipers scored the last two goals of the game at 5:34 and 13:39 of the third period. The Spruce Kings continue their road trip in the Okanagan when they face off tonight in Salmon Arm and Sunday in Penticton.

–The Major Midget leading Cariboo Cougars host the Vancouver NE Chiefs tonight at 7:15 and Sunday at 8:30am at Kin 1.

–The UNBC Timberwolves lost to the MacEwan University Griffins in their first Canada West basketball league games in 2015. MacEwan whipped the Lady Timberwolves 81-48 and the Griffins knocked off the UNBC men 85-77. The same teams meet again tonight in Edmonton.

–In high school basketball: DP Todd is hosting its senior boys tournament and in Vanderhoof the Viqueens Invitational is taking place. On opening day, the Cedars Christian Cedars girls beat Prince Rupert 66-60.
