IIHF U-18 MEN”S World HOCKEY Championship: (in Umea, Sweden)

Canada  11 Belarus  1

Canada is 3-0 and will play the Czech Republic on Tuesday.

The Czech Republic is 2-1 after a 4-2 victory over Finland.

Taylor Gauthier of the PG Cougars played in Canada’s first two games (5-3 over Finland and 7-4 over Switzerland) and stopped 63 of 70 shots for a save percentage of .900.

DOYLE CUP:

The BCHL champion Prince George Spruce Kings visit the Brooks Bandits Friday and Saturday in the first two games of the Doyle Cup.

Both teams have a guaranteed berth in the Royal Bank Cup which will be held May 11-19 in Brooks.

The best-of-seven WHL Conference Finals resume Tuesday and Wednesday with Vancouver at Spokane in the West and Prince Albert at Edmonton in the East.

The Giants lead the Chiefs 2-0 while the Raiders and Oil Kings are tied 1-1.

There are a pair of Stanley Cup playoff games tonight: Washington at Carolina (4pm PT) and Nashville at Dallas (5:30).

The Capitals lead the Hurricanes 3-2 and the Stars are ahead of the Predators 3-2.

(The Washington-Carolina winner will play New York Islanders in 2nd round while the Dallas-Nashville winner will face St. Louis)

Brett Connolly of Prince George scored his first playoff goal in the Capitals 6-0 Saturday win.


NBA:

A couple of NBA teams face elimination on home court tonight.

Milwaukee visits Detroit (5pm PT) followed by Houston at Utah (7:30).

MLB:

Toronto Blue Jays  5  Oakland A’s  4

The 11-12 Blue Jays swept the 3-game series and have won four straight and six of their last seven.

Toronto will host (9-14) San Francisco Tuesday and Wednesday and Oakland Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Jays are 3rd in the AL East, a game behind the NY Yankees and 3 1/2 back of Tampa Bay.

LPGA:

Brooke Henderson moved into a tie for most victories ever on the LPGA/PGA Tour by a Canadian (8) with her win Saturday in the Lotte Championship.

PG SR LACROSSE:

The Prince George Senior Lacrosse Association will begin its new season on May 1st at Kin 2.

The League has a revised schedule and is starting later than normal due to the Prince George Spruce Kings playoff run.
