T-Wolves WSOC add Nanaimo striker to recruiting class

UNBC’s Vancouver Island pipeline has landed another recruit.

Earlier today (Monday), UNBC Timberwolves Women’s Soccer head coach Neil Sedgwick announced the commitment striker Rhyan Barfoot of Nanaimo.

Most of Barfoot’s youth soccer has been played for the Mid-Isle Soccer Association (12 years), Elite XI and mostly recently with the Lake Hill Premier Women.

Last season, while at Elite Xl Soccer Academy, Barfoot notched seven goals, along with four assists during the Spring season.

She’ll be suiting up with Nanaimo United in the Spring.

During a visit to UNBC in November, Barfoot, a soon-to-be graduate of John Barsby Secondary School, was immediately impressed with UNBC and especially her future teammates.

“The indoor soccer facility is amazing, but it was mostly all the great people I met on my visit, reflected Barfoot. “They are all super nice and made me feel very welcome. They like to laugh and have fun off the pitch which helped me feel more at ease on my visit.”

Academically, Barfoot plans to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce in Human Resource Management. Her other interests include baking and playing basketball.

She also used to race BMX bikes.
