Cullen concerned about ISIS mission expansion

The MP for Skeena-Bulkley Valley is concerned about the expansion of Canada’s role in the battle against ISIS.

On Tuesday the federal government announced Canada will be extending its mission in Iraq and Syria for one year.

Nathan Cullen says what’s concerning for him is this is known as “mission creep.”

“We started with a one month long observation mission,” says Cullen, “and then it was an assist mission for six months, and now its a 12 month mission and all along what we were told we would be doing and what our soldiers would be doing hasn’t proven to be true and so there is real concern, that this thing is going to keep expanding into where there would be boots on the ground like in Iraq and we all know how that movie turns out.”

Cullen says ISIS does need to be dealt with, but not through active combat.
