UNBC and its Faculty Association have decided on an arbitrator.
The two sides have agreed upon Seasoned Arbitrator Stan Lanyon to handle the contract case between the two sides.
Faculty Association Vice President Erik Jensen says Lanyon has been the chair of the BC Labour Board.
“So he knows the landscape of British Columbia’s Labour Relations quite well,” says Jensen, “so being well respected we’re hoping that he will be able to look at our position and come up with an agreement that is suitable for the situation that we find ourselves in.”

Jensen says they are now trying to sort out dates for hearings with Lanyon.
He suspects it won’t be until fall that they will get their case looked at.
