Hospice House Resale Shop truck stolen over weekend

Who steals from Hospice?

That is what the Hospice Palliative Care Society in Prince George is trying to figure out after staff arrived at the Domano resale shop location this morning (Tuesday) to find themselves without a truck.

It is a 5-ton 2006 Ford with the license plate FG 0278. There is a faded hint of graffiti on the driver’s side of it leftover from a previous vandalism.

Jana Phillips, the Resale Store Manager, said the truck could have been taken any time between Sunday evening and this morning before 9:00 – the shop is closed on Mondays and no staff were around to notice if it was missing.

“I was concerned it had been towed because they were snow clearing our parking lot when we got there, but unfortunately it wasn’t towed. It was stolen,” Phillips told My PG Now.

“We use [the truck] for all of hospice. When we do events, when we help people in Hospice – that truck is in use between 3-5 days a week,” she said. “It is very important to us, it is a big part of our livelihood. It has been a devastating day.”

Without it, Phillips and volunteers will be making due with their own personal vehicles.

“We don’t have a plan. We are just praying we get it back somehow,” she said. “Who steals from Hospice? That is the question of the hour… Hopefully they need it more than we do. It is very unfortunate.”

Within the first few hours of the news, Phillips said the community has already started to offer their own vehicles to help in the interim.

Any other interested volunteers can contact either hospice retail shop in town.
