Cougars and Caps advance at the Mac’s

The drive for two is alive and kicking for the Cariboo Cougars as they advanced to the quarter finals after a 5-1 over the Ontario Avalanche today (Wed).

Cariboo jumped out to a 2-0 after 20 minutes thanks to power-play goals from Chase Dubois and Riley Coish.

The Cougars would add three more in the middle frame from Josh Maser, Trey Thomas and Chase Dubois.

Delfino Valera would score the lone goal for Ontario.

Aaron Jakubowski made 11 saves in the win as Cariboo outshot the Avalanche 35-12.

The Cougars now play the South Side Athletic Club from Edmonton tomorrow (Thu) at 11:00am Pacific Time.

On the women’s side, the Northern Capitals improved to 4-0 earning a spot in the semi-finals thanks to a 2-1 win over the Vancouver Island Seals.

Brittany Savard made it 1-0 VI after 20 minutes.

Myah Bowal scored twice in the final 40 minutes to propel the Caps to victory.

Tamara William made 11 saves for the victory.

The Capitals will face the Fraser Valley Rush tomorrow at 12 noon Pacific time.
