Federal government to announce reopening of Veterans Affairs Office in Prince George

The federal Minister of Veteran Affairs will be in Prince George on Monday to announce details of the reopening of the local VA Office.

A series of similar announcements have already been made in communities across Canada who had their offices shuttered by the Harper Government. In his mandate letter, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau pledged to reopen all nine of the closed offices by May 2017.

Ottawa is taking applications for staff at the Prince George branch, and say more than 250 frontline staff have already been hired.

Minister Kent Hehr will also attend a Liberal Party BBQ at the Exploration Place Museum Sunday evening.
