CNC offering new apprenticeship in January

Tomorrow’s aspiring steamfitters/pipefitters are in good hands.

The College of New Caledonia is offering a new 6-week, second-year apprenticeship training program in January.

A steamfitter/pipefitter is someone who works with hot water piping systems and hot water boilers in industrial projects or manufacturing plants.

Work BC expects the profession to rise in demand over the next 10 years. It anticipates 800 job openings by 2025.

“We are very happy to help these apprentices access this training,” says Dean of Trades Frank Rossi. “CNC is committed to student success, and our goal is to put students first by focusing on apprenticeship training opportunities for in-demand occupations in the North.”

“This program is a great opportunity for Northern BC,” says David Sewell, CNC instructor. “Students will no longer have to travel to the southern part of the province to get this training.”

The program is open to students who have finished their first-year apprenticeship or the piping foundation program.
