NATIONAL JUNIOR A CHAMPIONSHIP–(in Brooks, Alberta)

The Prince George Spruce Kings played their tournament opener this afternoon against the Oakville Blades.

The Spruce Kings beat Oakville 5-1 scoring five unanswered goals in the last 40 minutes.

Five teams are competing in the round robin.

The BCHL and Doyle Cup champions are 21-3 in the post-season, including the win today (Sunday).

WHL: (Ed Chynoweth Cup)

Game six in the WHL final will be played tonight (5:00 PT) in Prince Albert.

The Raiders enjoy a 3-2 lead over the Vancouver Giants.

Should a 7th and deciding game be needed it would be played Monday in P.A.

The Raiders are 13-0 when scoring first in the 2019 playoffs and 57-0 when including the regular season.

The winner of the series will advance to the Memorial Cup May 16 to 26 in Halifax.

The Sharks lead the best-of-seven Western Conference final 1-0.

The series will resume Monday night at 6:00 in San Jose.

The Eastern Conference final continued today with Carolina at Boston.

UPDATE: The Bruins lead the series 2-0 after winning the opener 5-2 and the game today 6-2.

WORLD HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP: (in Slovakia)

UPDATE: Canada beat Great Britain today 8-0 in its second round-robin game at the World Hockey Championship in Slovakia.

Canada lost its opener 3-1 to Finland in the 16-team tournament.

On Monday, the Canadian team will battle host Slovakia (11:15 a.m.).

Gold and bronze medal games will be played on Sunday, May 26.

PG SENIOR LACROSSE:

Prince George Senior Lacrosse is continuing this weekend in Mackenzie.

The Lumberjacks hosted Northland Nissan Assault in a doubleheader.

NBA: 

A couple of game 7’s today (Sunday) in the NBA to end the second round of the playoffs.

The Toronto Raptors host the Philadelphia 76’ers (4:00 p.m. PT) with the winner to face the Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference final.

UPDATE: In the West, the Portland Trail Blazers beat the Denver Nuggets 100-96 to win the series 4-3.
