Motorized off-road vehicles wreaking havoc for residents

As the weather starts to warm up, the Prince George RCMP are reporting an increase in the number of complaints about people misusing off-road vehicles.

PG RCMP Corporal Craig Douglass said it’s not uncommon this time of year.

“Sometimes it’s loud use, and sometimes it’s going to fast down residential streets when they should not even be on those streets. Other times it people walking dogs on trials that are just about run over by people using their machines dangerously.”

Douglass added it’s up to the public to find where they are allowed to use the machines, but they are not permitted on many highways or streets without a number plate or sticker and banned from all City parks and trials.

If caught violators can be fined up to $1000, have their vehicles seized, and the possibility of civil or criminal charges.

Police ask anyone with information about persons operating dirt bikes, ATVs, and UTVs improperly to contact (250)-561-3300.
