Prince George hosts MS Walk

The City of Prince George is getting ready for the 20th annual MS Walk.

On Sunday at noon the walk will start at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park.

Sandra Stibrany, Chair of the MS Walk Committee in Prince George said Multiple Sclerosis affects approximately 200 people in Prince George.

“Usually you are diagnosed with MS between the ages of 20 and 49, so there is a wide variety of timelines that you have the disease, and there is no cure.”

This year they are hoping to raise $20,000.

In years past the walk has had between 120 to 150 participants, but Stibrany said they are hoping to get more people supporting the cause.

“Approximately 75 per cent of people with MS are women, but 25 per cent are men. It is interesting for men who have it because their symptoms are often worse than the symptoms women have.”

In addition to the walk, there will also be vendors, live music, and activities for kids.

Anyone wanting to donate can go to the MS Walk website and follow the directions.
