Local residents invited to share views on workers’ compensation

A public hearing on BC’s worker compensation system is slated for July 17th in Prince George.

It’s all part of a province-wide public engagement session where the public and stakeholders can have their say on how to make the system more worker-friendly.

You can do so via email at [email protected] or by filling out an online questionnaire by July 19th.

In, Harry Bains, Minister of Labour, announced the appointment of a retired labour lawyer, Janet Patterson, to undertake the independent review, to assess:

• The system’s policies and practices that support injured workers’ return to work;
• WorkSafeBC’s current policies and practices through a gender and diversity-based analysis (commonly referred to as GBA +);
• Modernizing WorkSafeBC’s culture to reflect a worker-centric service delivery model;
• The case management of injured workers; and
• Potential amendments to the Workers Compensation Act arising from this focused review.
