Busy night for police; multiple arrests made

The Prince George RCMP made a series of arrests, all ranging in offences from last night (Wednesday) to early this morning (Thursday).

At approximately 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Prince George RCMP was called to a residence near 1st Avenue and Claxton Crescent in response to a disturbance.

During the investigation, an adult male was found hiding from the police and provided a fake name. He was arrested for obstruction and found to be in possession of a forged cheque, as well as a stolen wallet, credit cards, and a passport from a break and enter that occurred late last month in Prince George.

Donald John Peregoodoff, a 26-year-old Prince George resident who is formerly of Dease Lake, has been charged by the B.C. Prosecution Service with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Obstruction of a Peace Officer
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possession of break-in instruments
  • Forgery

Peregoodoff is scheduled to appear in court today (Thursday).

The RCMP say that Peregoodoff is well known to police.

=====

Just after midnight this morning (Thursday), RCMP received a report of a theft from a vehicle, which was located on Upland Street.

A number of items had been taken from the unlocked vehicle.

Approximately thirty minutes after arriving on scene and conducting patrols of the area, a traffic stop was initiated with an occupied vehicle on Tamarack Street. It was there that an officer saw items he believed to have been stolen from the vehicle on Upland Street.

All three occupants were arrested for possession of stolen property and over $700 worth of stolen items were recovered.

The B.C. Prosecution Service has charged a 22-year-old and 26-year-old, both of whom are residents of Prince George.

The 42-year-old driver of the vehicle was released without any charges being laid.

=====

The Prince George RCMP conducted a street check of a suspicious male early Thursday (today) morning.

At the time, the man was walking on Northwood Pulpmill Road in Prince George.

The check determined that the 50-year-old man was breaching a curfew condition of a probation order from last fall.

As a result, he was arrested and found to have a hammer hidden up his sleeve, which was a further breach of his probation.

William Ernest Parent has been charged by the B.C. Prosecution Service with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Fail to comply with terms of probation (two counts)
  • Possession of a break-in instrument

Police state that Parent is well known to them.
