There’s something fishy this fathers day

The Spruce City Wildlife Association Is getting ready for their third annual Salmon release.

The release is happening this Sunday at the Cottonwood Island boat launch at 11 in the morning.

Association President Steve Hamilton said the event always gets a good response from the community.

Due to low salmon numbers, they were only able to raise 1300 to 1400 but hopes they can get more for next year.

“We had to reach out to another river system to get our broodstock and the number of eggs we were able to receive that all we were about to recover, unfortunately.”

The goal of the release is to one day reach a point where the Salmon numbers in the Nechako River are no longer a concern.

Following the release, there is a free BBQ and tour at the Hatchery.
