The Chamber Carbon Action Project in Prince George will be sticking around for another two years.
It’s a joint venture between UNBC students and the local Chamber of Commerce where the students educate the businesses on how to reduce fossil fuels and to educate them on their carbon footprint.
Chamber Grants Administrator Barbara Otter recently did an interview with MYPGNOW.com
“Businesses appreciate working with the students and the insight that they can have on how the businesses can operate by using less reliance on carbon fuels as well as different ways that they can reduce their operational expenses.”
She adds it’s been a great partnership between both parties.
“We have had forty-six businesses carbon footprint analysis done free through this project all done by the students and this is an amazing opportunity to have a job skill that they learn in the classroom and actually apply in a true and live case analysis.”
Since 2015, CN funded this project at a total cost of 164-thousand dollars and will produce an additional 59-thousand until 2021.
Five businesses in Prince George have become carbon-neutral since the program began with another three expected to be announced in September.

Otter is impressed by the different type of businesses that have stepped forward to participate including those in consulting, retail, First Nations, non-profits and restaurants.
