Keranen marks third Spruce King to commit to Wolverines

With success like what the Prince George Spruce Kings experienced last season, it’s no question how the players have garnered such interest south of the border.

The Spruce Kings announced that defenseman Jay Keranen has committed to the University of Michigan for the 2019/2020 season, joining teammates Nick Bochen and Fin Williams as commitments to the Wolverines’ program from Prince George.

Keranen, from Brighton, Michigan, played 98 regular season games for the Spruce Kings, scoring once and adding 12 assists. In 43 playoff games, Jay posted 5 goals and 10 assists plus one assist in the Doyle Cup. He had 1 goal and 1 assist at the NJAC in Brooks.

Keranen is the 11th Spruce Kings player from this years team to move to NCAA Division I next season.

6 of the 7 defensemen from last years roster have earned a scholarship while playing in Prince George.

The BCHL Schedule was officially released today (Tuesday) as well.

The defending BCHL and Doyle Cup Champion Spruce Kings will celebrate their 2018/2019 success on Friday September 6th as they entertain the Surrey Eagles. A full arena is expected as the Fred Page Cup and Doyle Cup banners get unveiled in the rafters.

Single Game Tickets will not go on sale until September 3rd.
