Going through downtown Saturday morning, rainbows and bright colours seemed to be the trend.
Hundreds, young and old, lined the streets of downtown to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community in the city, including some furry friends taking in on the celebrations.

The parade got underway at 11 a.m. on Second Ave. and Dominion Street, a different location from past years due to the construction throughout the downtown core, but it hasn’t just been the parade route that’s changed according to a particular icon in the city’s Gay Community.
“I moved here from a violent home in 1992, and at that time there was nothing for the gay youth in this town,” Electronica Dynasty, the 5th elected Ms. Gay of Prince George told MyPGNow. “But now, I am so happy to see so much change in this city.”
Walking along the parade route, many people voiced their amazement and admiration in how much the parade, as well as the festivities, has grown over the years.

“I’m thrilled,” said Dynasty. “It’s nice to see this community embracing the changes that are coming and there is more coming where this came from. But at the same rate, it’s beautiful to see Prince George coming together as one unit with everyone involved. They don’t exclude anyone.”
Following the parade, the Pride Week festival continued on the lawn next to the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre, providing attendees with a few more hours to enjoy the party.
“I want to see this grow. We need to start supporting our trans sisters. We need to start supporting our people of colour. We need everyone, and that means everyone. No exclusions. No excuses,” insisted Dynasty.
