The cutbacks continue; Mackenzie Conifex temporarily curtailing

Amid saw and pulp mill cutbacks, closures and sales across the province, Conifex has announced another temporary curtailment at it’s Mackenzie location.

The company said they have made the decision due to continued high log costs and lumber market conditions.

The sawmill will curtail operations for two weeks commencing July 29th.

Last week, Isle Pierre Sawmill, 45 kilometres west of Prince George, announced it will be going down to one shift from two, resulting in the loss of 50 to 55 jobs. In the same day, Mackenzie took a devastating hit after the announcement of Canfor’s indefinite sawmill closure.
