Texas 4000 for Cancer donates $9000 to BC Cancer in Prince George

A group of people are riding from Austin Texas to Anchorage Alaska to raise awareness and support for cancer research.

During their stop in Prince George, they presented BC Cancer in Prince George with a $9000 donation to go towards Indigenous cancer care.

Guillermo Beltran, 2019 Sierra Ride Director, said they are giving donations to the organization throughout their route.

“The money comes from our riders, each Texas 4000 rider is required to raise a minimum of $4500.”

He said they are 52 days into a 70-day journey and adds the best part is all of the people they are meeting along the way.

“What we want to do is spread information about how to prevent cancer, so I encourage everyone to talk to a doctor so that they can be informed on what their health is.”
