The Everett Silvertips extended their win streak to six games with a 4-1 victory over the Prince George Cougars to sweep the doubleheader at CN Centre. Silvertips captain Kohl Baum tallied twice in the third, including the insurance marker just 32 seconds into the period. Everett outshot PG 26-18 in front of 2,363 fans. It was the seventh consecutive loss for the (20-26-1-1) Cougars who continue to barely hold on to 3rd in the BC Division, two points ahead of Vancouver and Kamloops. Vancouver lost its 5th straight, 8-4 to Medicine Hat while  Kamloops won its third in a row 3-1 over  Tri-City.  The Cougars were outscored 22-7 on their four game home-stand, including 11-3 in the third period.

–The PG Cougars visit Medicine Hat Friday, Lethbridge Saturday and Kootenay Sunday. The Cats next home games will go January 30th and 31st against the Seattle Thunderbirds. Cougars captain Sam Ruopp has been handed a five game suspension for a knee major and a game misconduct on Tuesday in a 6-1 loss to Everett.

–The PG Cougars leading scorer, Jansen Harkins, will wear an A for Team Orr in the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game tonight in St.Catharines, Ontario.

–The (20-19-0-4) Prince George Spruce Kings wrap up a five game home-stand with a double against the last place (7-33-0-3) Surrey Eagles tonight and Friday. The Spruce Kings can clinch a playoff spot with a win. PG is in 3rd place in the BCHL Mainland Division, eight points behind Chilliwack and nine back of Langley.

–The 25-4-1 Major Midget Cariboo Cougars travel to Richmond for league games Saturday and Sunday against the 14-8-6 Valley West Hawks.

–Patti Knezevic of Prince George won her first two games at the Scotties BC Women’s Curling Championship in Maple Ridge. Knezevic scored five in the 7th to put away Diane Gushaluk of Vancouver 8-3 and followed that up with an 8-3 victory over Kelly Scott of Kelowna. 8 teams are competing with the final scheduled
scheduled for Sunday at 1pm.

–In the Girls semis on Wednesday, January 28th: Duchess against Kelly Road and College Heights to host Cedars Christian.

–The UNBC Timberwolves visit Mount Royal Friday and Saturday in Canada West basketball. UNBC is 5-7 (men) and 1-11 (women) while Mount Royal is 6-6 (men) and 4-8 (women).

–The 28th annual PG ICEMAN will take place on Sunday. Over 400 participants are expected to compete.
