MLB:

New York Yankees  12  Toronto Blue Jays  6

Blue Jays rookie shortstop Bo Bichette became the first Major League player to double in nine straight games — and he broke the record in the 11th game of his career.

Bichette, 21, has hit safely in all 11 of his games.

The 76-39 Yankees have won 9 straight.

The 47-71 Jays continue a 10-game homestand tonight against the Yanks.

CFL: (Week 9)

Winnipeg Blue Bombers  26  Calgary Stampeders  24

Janarion Grant led the Bombers as he returned a pair of punts for touchdowns of 76 and 83 yards in his CFL debut.

The first-place Blue Bombers are 6-2 while the Stampeders sit 5-3.

A pair of CFL games will be played tonight: (4-3) Saskatchewan at (3-3) Montreal (4:00 PT) followed by (3-4) Ottawa at (4-3) Edmonton (7:00).

The (1-6) BC Lions will try to end a three-game losing skid when they visit the East-Division leading (5-2) Hamilton Tiger-Cats Saturday (4:00 PT).

The last-place Lions are tied with Toronto for most points allowed (241).

Canada  3  Sweden  2  (Shootout)

Cole Perfetti scored three times in the shootout and twice in regulation.

Canada advances to the gold-medal game Saturday (8 am PT) against Russia.

The Canadian team has won the tournament 10 of the last 11 times.

PG Spruce Kings:

The Prince George Spruce Kings have hired Jessie Leung as Associate Coach and Nick Drazenovic of Prince George as Skills and Development Coach.

Leung, 34, spent the last two seasons as the Associate Coach with the Trail Smoke Eaters.

The 32-year-old Drazenovic, who had been the PG Cougars Director of Player Development the last couple of years, is the owner-operator of Northern Elite Hockey that supports the north in hockey development.

Low temperature record falls for Prince George

Prince George recorded its coldest temperature for October 13th this morning (Monday) according to Environment Canada. "Prince George Airport registered a low temperature of minus 9.5, which broke the record of minus 7.0, set in 1993," said Environment Canada Meteorologist Gary Dickinson.

The BC Conservation Officer Service (COS) says two hikers in the McGregor Mountain area north east of Prince George yesterday. (Sunday)According to the service, COS PAT Specialists are investigating.

Ice making process to start at two RDFFG rinks

The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George says the ice making process will start at a couple of rural rinks this week. At the start of this month, the Regional District announced ice-making would be indefinitely suspended at the Robson Valley Recreation Centre in McBride and the Canoe Valley Recreation Centre in Valemount.
