UPDATE: Hwy 97 reopened following police incident

At approximately 11:20 AM, officers were able to resolve the situation without incident.  The highway has been reopened to traffic.

Police in Prince George responded to a firearms incident at a residence along the Hart Highway this morning (Thu).

Just after 9:30 AM, the RCMP attended a call where a man had a firearm near Christopher Drive at the north end of city limits.

A portion of the highway will be closed while officers resolve the situation.

Traffic control personnel are re-routing vehicles to Old Summit Lake Road.

Police are asking the public to avoid the area and further updates will be provided.

According to reports from listeners, the Prince George RCMP are currently on the scene of an incident along Highway 97 North in the Hart.

Traffic is shut down along the highway and northbound traffic is being diverted by police down to Old Summit Lake Road.
