UPDATE: Search continues to find 4-year-old Mackenzie boy, Search and Rescue not needing volunteers

Update at 10:00 a.m.

According to RCMP Cpl. Madonna Saunderson, the search for 4-year-old George continues in the area of Lions Lake.

“Search and Rescue are saying that at this point they do not need any additional resources or volunteers to search, however, if individuals do go there to please go to the command centre as information will be more readily available there,” Saunderson informed MyPGNow.

Due to weather conditions in the area, an air search is unable to be conducted at this time.

Conservation officers in the area have joined Search and Rescue crews.

Original Story:

Prince George Search and Rescue are assisting in locating a missing four year old boy near Mackenzie.

According to Tamara Wiese, who says she is a close friend of the boy’s family, George went missing by Lions Lake, off of Highway 39 just south of Mackenzie around 12:30 pm on Saturday afternoon.

George is reported to be about three feet tall and weighs 35 lbs.  He was wearing a blue coat, hoodie, blue pants and camo-style boots.

Wiese said volunteers from the community have been out searching for George, but were sent home for the night while Search and Rescue teams continue.

“There were about 100 or more volunteers just from town and the Rangers are out there and the fire department and the RCMP. If people want to help look for him tomorrow, if they still need us and I hope he’s found tonight, they need to have ID with them and can sign in at the Mackenzie Search and Rescue,” she told MyPGNow.
We will be updating with more information as it becomes available.
