Interior demolition has been underway for a few months now.
According to City Spokesperson Michael Kellett, due to the age of the building, much of the dismantling has been needing to be done carefully due to the sort of materials used in the construction of the building.
“The building has to be dismantled piece by piece from the exterior just due to some of the materials in the walls of the building,” he told MyPGNow. “A lot of that material needs to be disposed of properly.”
Kellett added that completion of the demolition is to be done by November.
“We know it’s a pretty old building, so some of the materials that were used in the construction are no longer the standard. It’s taking about the time that we had thought.”
Once the demolition is completed, the City plans to provide progress updates on plans and progress for the new pool.
