Cariboo Rocks the North… and the donation box

Following the 2nd Cariboo Rocks the North, representatives from Save on Foods and Pacific Western Brewery were on hand at CN Centre today (Thursday) to present a cheque to BC Children’s Hospital.

Kyle Sampson, event manager for Cariboo Rocks the North, told MyPGNow following the cheque presentation that this year’s event allowed for them to iron out some of the rough patches from last year’s event, while also establishing growth in the event itself.

“We saw close to 8,500 people this year for attendance over the three days compared to last year, which was about 5,500, so great growth,” said Sampson. “We also increased beer sales. Great growth all around.”

Save on Foods has been a part of PWB’s concert events for several years now according to Sampson, and has continued to give proceeds to their charity of choice in BC Children’s Hospital.

“That money — over $12,000 — is going down to BC Children’s Hospital,” said Sampson.

Sampson added that it’s engrained in Pacific Western’s brand to continue to put on events such as Cariboo Rocks the North and this year’s 1st annual Prince George Ribfest.

“This is over 60 years of brewing in Prince George. This is our hometown, this is where we do business, this is where we give back, and so to be a part of bringing great events, great entertainment, building our community and giving back, we love to do charitable giving in our community and support organizations that make Prince George what it is.”
