The Prince George Humane Society only has two months before they will have to close their doors – unless they get a little help.
Society board member Kirby MacInnes said they take in about 1,500-2000 animals a year and costs vary depending on the care each one needs.
“It costs roughly $300,000 a year to run,” said MacInnes. “Donations have been down, more pets have come in and we just don’t have enough to keep running. We’re trying to get creative about how to make this work.”
She said they are really hoping to get the community out in full force in the two-week CHANGE 4 CHANGE Campaign, where volunteers can help fill a can with donations and bring it back to the Society.
“We are asking 500 animal heroes to come in, take a can, take change out of your truck, get this can filled,” said MacInnes.
