The Prince George Cougars will play five WHL pre-season games, with none of them in the northern capital.
They start exhibition play on Friday, Sept. 6th against the Kamloops Blazers in Langley.

The Big Guy Lake Kings defeated the East Hants Mastodons on Saturday afternoon by a score of 3-1.
Matching up against host Grande Prairie, the Kings were sent to the plank as the Pirates doubled up with a 4-2 win.

UNBC Timberwolves:
The UNBC Timberwolves are back in action today for Game 2 of their doubleheader against the Fraser Valley Cascades.
The two teams posted a draw on Friday evening, matching at 1-1 from Masich Place.
UNBC is currently sitting with a 1-1-1 record while Fraser Valley has a 0-2-1 record.

Quite the way to cap off a Gold Medal run for Dandeneau and the rest of Team Canada in Wheelchair Basketball, defeating the United States 67-64.

Week 12 in the CFL kicks off today with Winnipeg at Saskatchewan.
That will be followed up by the Labour Day Classic games tomorrow (Monday), kicking off with Toronto at Hamilton. Edmonton at Calgary will then follow.
The BC Lions return to action on Friday, September 6 at Montreal.
The 1-9 Lions are riding a six-game losing streak.

Cavan Biggio’s two-run home run powered the Blue Jays past the Houston Astros on Saturday afternoon from Toronto.
Teoscar Hernandez added a solo blast for Toronto and Bo Bichette had two hits, two runs, and a stolen base.
Bichette finished the month with 39 hits – a new franchise rookie record over a single month.
Houston leads the AL West division with a record of 88-49.
Toronto is 55-82 on the season.

Basketball
Canada has their roster set for their tournament-opening game at the FIBA World Cup.
Players of note who have pulled out are Andrew Wiggins, RJ Barrett, Jamal Murray, Tristan Thompson, Dwight Powell, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker.
In the end, Canada’s roster has two NBA players on it, Cory Joseph (Sacramento) and Khem Birch (Orlando).
Canada will play its first game against Australia.

Canada’s Bianca Andreescu defeated former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark 6-4, 6-4 in third-round play at the U.S. Open on Saturday.
Up next for the young Canuck will be American Taylor Townsend, who defeated Romania’s Simona Halep.
