Lheidli T’enneh and Aboriginal Tourism BC sign MOU

A local first nations band will be getting some help during the Canada Winter Games.
The Lheidli T’enneh, the official host First Nation Has signed a statement of cooperation with Aboriginal Tourism BC.
The agency’s Chair Brenda Baptiste says they will be providing marketing services during the games.
“In order to help build our Aboriginal tourism presence in this area,” says Baptiste, “because Aboriginal tourism is good for the entire economy in the region.”
Lheidli T’enneh Chief Dominic Frederick says the agency will mostly be helping at the  Pavilion that will showcase Aboriginal culture.
“And other Aboriginal groups from all over will be able to entertain the visitors.”
Both sides are hoping this will lead to more Aboriginal tourism in the region.

Surprise visit brings big smiles to boy battling cancer in Quesnel

A young man battling eye cancer received a surprise visit over the Canada Day long weekend by a car club and motorcycle club in Quesnel. Over 50 vehicles from the Prospector’s Car Club and the Dangerous Curves Motorbike Club drove by and filled the dead-end roads near Kellen Harper-Frederiko’s house, with well wishes, toys to give to Kellen, and chances for him to sit in and on cars and bikes.

Some Northern Interior Health Unit services moving next year

Northern Health's Northern Interior Health Unit (NIHU) will be making a move in spring 2026.  According to Northern Health, the current NIHU building will be deconstructed after the move to make space for the tower.
