Murry Krause to receive Sovereign’s Medal from BC Lieutenant Governor

A Prince George City Councillor is set to earn a provincial honor.

Murry Krause will be in Victoria tomorrow (Thursday) and will be one of 44 people from the province to be presented with the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers.

Krause is being recognized for his work in the community and social justice that has spanned over 40 years.

“It certainly became unexpected and I’m not sure who nominated me but it’s very exciting.”

Krause also served as the executive director of the Central Interior Native Health Society for 22 years, a feat the longtime local politician is very proud of.

“For me, it’s been an honour to have been doing this work for all of these years and from my perspective and people have asked me this, I get to work with some of the most incredible people in this community and throughout the province.”

He is currently chair of the Indigenous Relations Committee of the Union of BC Municipalities.

Lieutenant Governor Janet Austin will present the medal.
