UPDATE: Fire crews vacate scene of early morning fire at Foothills Landfill

Update at 11:20 AM

Prince George fire crews have left the scene of a fire this morning at the Foothills Landfill.

According to the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George, the fire started just after 6 am.

RDFFG Spokesperson, Renee McCloskey provided an update to MyPGNow.com.

“Crews have left the scene and will be monitoring the area where the fire was as we will watch for any flareups and we are equipped to manage those if they occur.”

The cause of the fire is not known at this time.

According to the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George, a fire took place at the Foothills Regional Landfill this morning.

PG Fire Crews are on-site and while the landfill remains open to the public, the RDFFG is requesting that residents avoid the area.

Spokesperson, Renee McCloskey spoke with MyPGNow.com.

“The fire was reported at about 6:20 AM this morning and as far as the cause it is still pretty early days to know what it may have been.”

The Regional District reminds the public that hazardous, flammable and ignitable waste including lithium batteries are not permitted at the site.
