Prince George RCMP responded to a two-vehicle incident just before 10 a.m. this morning (Tuesday) that caused some major damage to a local establishment.

According to police, it happened along 5th Avenue and Dominion Street where one vehicle ran a stop sign.

One of the vehicles involved made contact with the Prince George Italian Club, smashing in the front door and breaking the surrounding glass.

President of the club Luciano Pagnotta spoke to MyPGNow while surveying the damage to the front of the building downtown.

“Looks like the vehicle bounced off another truck and then it just ended up coming into the building. It looks like it’s substantial damage.”

Pagnotta said the Italian Club has been around for 50 years and the building itself is at least 80.

“There’s major structural damage. It’s unfortunate right now because it’s a thriving club, it’s unfortunate, really unfortunate. But at the end of the day, hopefully, the driver is okay.”
