Successful emergency landing made at Prince George Airport

Passengers aboard a WestJet flight out of Prince George’s airport have their travel plans delayed a bit.

This morning at approximately 10:53 a.m., the airport received notice that an outbound aircraft had declared an emergency and was returning to the airport.

Airport rescue and firefighters, as well as British Columbia Ambulance Service, RCMP and local firefighters attended, and the plane landed without issue at 11:12 a.m.

Passengers were deplaned safely and airport staff is working to have all passengers rebooked on a later flight.

Airport staff confirmed to MyPGNow that there were no injuries to any passengers or WestJet staff aboard the flight.

Specifics on what exactly went wrong were not provided by WestJet, however, the airline company did say that the aircraft has subsequently been removed from service for further inspection from their maintenance team.
