ICYMI: Last day of advance polling

Advance polling wraps up today (Monday) at 9:00 p.m.

Advanced polls for the 43rd federal election were open across the country over the long weekend. Andrea Marantz, a spokesperson for Elections Canada, says they were heavily utilized in the previous election.

“It’s increasing dramatically. We saw an almost doubling of advanced polls in the last election, in the 2015 election,” she told MyPGNow. “We are expecting that trend to continue. I don’t know if it’s going to be to the same extent, but we do know that there is a great deal of interest in alternative methods of voting.”

Electors can only vote at their assigned polling station. This is different from the process in some provincial elections, where electors can vote at any polling station.

Electors can find the address of their assigned polling station on the back of their voter information card, by visiting elections.ca, or by calling 1-800-463-6868.

In order to vote, individuals must prove their identity and address. The list of accepted ID is online.
