Who would have thought that a parade would lead to possible inspiration for that next renovation project?

That’ll be the case when the Canadian Home Builders’ Northern BC hosts the annual fall Parade of Homes on Sunday, Oct. 20.

It’s a free event to participate in and will provide anyone thinking of renovating or updating their current home or even purchasing a newly built one, an opportunity to compare styles, floor plans, decor and neighbourhoods, and even meet the builder.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., you’ll be able to check-in at the Home Base house at 4096 Brink Place, located in the lovely Nechako View subdivision. From there, you can start the day off with a free RONA pancake breakfast between 9 a.m. and noon, grab a coffee to go and a map to drive yourself. People who are interested can also hop on the free parade bus.

The parade bus departs the Home Base house at 11 a.m. and again at 2 p.m.

“Last year the morning bus was full with the over-flow waiting for the afternoon run, so please make certain that you arrive at least 15 minutes in advance of the departure time and it’s pretty much load in while seats last,” said Terri McConnachie, Executive Officer for the Canadian Home Builder’s Northern BC. “We visit all of the homes on the map and as we approach each one, I have the opportunity to introduce the company and provide a builder profile along with a quick overview of each home. Folks win contests and prizes while we travel. It’s a ton of fun”.

And if early-morning activities aren’t quite your thing, the Northern Regional Construction Association is sponsoring a free hot dog lunch from noon till 2 p.m., also at the Home Base house at 4096 Brink Place. Shaw is once again hosting a parade Scavenger Hunt with clues hidden in each of the homes on the map and a chance to win a prize; required contest forms are at the Home Base.
