Accidental fire on Irwin Street in PG results in $100,000 damage

Prince George Fire Rescue crews from four halls responded to a kitchen fire in the 1400 block of Irwin Street just after 7:00 tonight (Tuesday).

Firefighters found a triple story multi-unit complex consisting of four units with smoke and flames coming from a ground level unit window.

According to Assistant Fire Chief John Law, a fast attack was able to quickly knockdown and extinguish the fire; however major damage had already occurred.

Tenants from all four units were evacuated.

Two of them were taken to the hospital where they were treated for smoke inhalation.

There were no reported injuries to fire personnel.

Damage is estimated at $100,000.00.

The cause of the fire was due to cooking and is considered accidental.
