Rooftop arrest in downtown Prince George

Prince George RCMP took to the rooftops of downtown today (Wednesday).

Police confirmed to MyPGNow that an arrest warrant was executed on the rooftops of the 1400 block of 3rd Avenue in Prince George.

At approximately 12:00 p.m., the Mounties attended a second-floor apartment in an attempt to locate 26-year-old Johnny James Boys.

Shortly after knocking on the apartment door and announcing ‘police’, Boys was seen fleeing from the exterior window of the apartment onto an adjacent roof. Officers soon followed suit.

The suspect was later located hiding in a ventilation shaft on another roof and was then arrested.

During the search incidental to the arrest, Boys was found in possession of a significant amount of cash, cocaine, as well as methamphetamine.

The arrest warrant for Boys was issued back on Sept. 11 of this year after he failed to attend court to answer to several charges related to break and enter, and weapons possessions.

Charges that Boys is facing are as follows:

  • Carry a concealed weapon
  • Careless handling of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
  • Transferring a weapon while unauthorized
  • Fail to report a found firearm
  • Possess a firearm without a licence
  • Break, enter and commit an indictable offence

He will be held in custody overnight and is scheduled to attend court on Thursday, Oct. 24.

Boys could be facing additional charges.
