Local softball player gets named to Team Canada’s Athlete Pool

Prince George’s Nicholas Potskin has found his name among some of the nation’s best.

Softball Canada announced the list of 44 athletes who have been named to the 2020 Men’s National Team Athlete Pool, Potskin being one of eight new names to the list.

The Canadian Men’s National Team won a bronze medal at the 2019 WBSC World Championship this summer in the Czech Republic. A WBSC Americas Men’s Pan American Championship is expected to take place in 2020 ahead of the 2021 WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup. Locations and dates for both those events have not been determined yet.

Potskin participated in the Canadian Native Fastball Championships in Winnipeg during the summer as a member of the Big Guy Lake Kings. Earlier this month, it was announced that the 22-year-old would be playing for the Island Bay Softball Club in Wellington New Zealand.
