WHL: (PG Cougars)

Victoria Royals  3  Prince George Cougars  2  (SO)

The Prince George Cougars (4-12-0-2) battled back from a 2-0 deficit late in the third period against the  Victoria Royals on Friday night, forcing overtime, but eventually losing in the fourth round of a shootout.

The Cougars have just one win in their last nine games to fall seven points behind the (8-7-1) Royals for a wild-card playoff spot.

PG is also three points back of the (5-8-2-1) Seattle Thunderbirds and six back of the (7-7-2) Spokane Chiefs.

The Cougars will hope to earn three of a possible four points when they square off against the Royals again tonight from the CN Centre (7:00 p.m.)

With issues surfacing with his release from his KHL club, Import Vladislav Mikhalchuk was unable to suit up for the Cougars on Friday.

The PG Cougars are hoping to have him in the lineup for tonight’s game with the return of their leading scorer from the 2018-19 season.

BCHL: (PG Spruce Kings)

Surrey Eagles  7  Prince George Spruce Kings  2

The (8-10-2-2) Prince George Spruce Kings were far from receiving a warm welcome from the (8-13-0-2) Surrey Eagles last night.

Buddy Johnson and Holden Katzalay each had a pair of markers, as well as a helper, as the Eagles went on to win.

The Spruce Kings will be in Chilliwack today to take on the (11-7-4-1) Chiefs.

The next home game for the Spruce Kings will be on Wednesday against the Vernon Vipers.

Prince George is in third place in the Mainland Division, two points ahead of Langley and Surrey and seven behind second-place Chilliwack.

BC Major Midget League: (Cariboo Cougars)

The Cariboo Cougars visit the Vancouver NW Hawks this weekend at the North Shore Winter Club.

Game times are 7:45 p.m. today and 10:15 a.m. tomorrow.

The (9-2-0-1) Major Midget Cougars are in 4th place in the 11-team BCMML, but just a point behind the (10-4) Vancouver NE Chiefs and the (10-4) Vancouver NW Hawks with Cariboo holding two games in hand.

The (9-5-3) Canucks will be hosting the (4-7-4) New Jersey Devils on Sunday.

Four Canadian teams will be in action today, including the Toronto Maple Leafs hosting the Philadelphia Flyers (4:00 p.m. PT) and the reigning Stanley Cup champion St Louis Blues taking on the Calgary Flames (7:00 p.m. PT).

Canada West Basketball: (UNBC Timberwolves)

Women: UNBC 70  Trinity Western Spartans  62

Men: UNBC 100  Trinity Western Spartans  87

The UNBC Timberwolves both snagged a win as they visited the Trinity Western University (TWU) Spartans on Friday.

The same teams will be back in action today in Langley in Canada West basketball.

UNBC is 2-1 with the men and 1-2 with the women.

The Spartans are 0-3 in both the men’s and women’s divisions.

Next home games for the Timberwolves will be on Nov. 15th and 16th against the UBC Thunderbirds.

NBA:

Toronto Raptors  122  New Orleans Pelicans  104

Pascal Siakam put up 44 points as the Raptors routed the Pelicans.

With the win, the Raptors take the first of a five-game road trip for the squad.

The Raptors are now 6-2 this season including an opening night victory over the Pelicans.

High School Football:
The College Heights Cougars (2-1) will be taking on the Clarence Fulton Maroons (2-2) in playoff football today (5:30 p.m.).
Coming from Vernon, the Maroons play in the ‘AA’ Interior Division.
The game will mark the first time a high school playoff game has been held at Masich Place Stadium since its completion.

NFL: (Week 10)

Oakland Raiders  26  LA Chargers  24

The Raiders improve to 5-4 while the Chargers drop to 4-6 in the AFC West.

There are 11 Sunday games in the NFL including Minnesota at Dallas.

CFL:

Playoffs kick off Sunday in the CFL.

Edmonton visits Montreal (10 a.m. PT) in the Eastern semi-final with the winner to play at Hamilton on Nov. 17th.

Winnipeg will be on the road at Calgary (1:30 p.m. PT) in the Western semi-final with the winner to visit Saskatchewan on Nov. 17th.

The 107th Grey Cup will be played in Calgary on Sunday, Nov. 24th.
