BCHL: (PG Spruce Kings)

The Prince George Spruce Kings host the (12-9-1) Vernon Vipers tonight, the (14-9-1-1) Cowichan Valley Capitals Friday and the (4-15-3-2) West Kelowna Warriors Saturday.

The (8-11-2-2) Spruce Kings have lost their last three.

Prince George is tied with the (10-13) Langley Rivermen for third place in the Mainland Division, just a point ahead of the last place (8-13-0-3) Surrey Eagles and nine behind the second place (12-7-4-1) Chilliwack Chiefs.

WHL: (PG Cougars)

The (4-13-0-2) Prince George Cougars visit the (13-6) Kamloops Blazers Friday and the (10-8-1-1) Vancouver Giants Saturday before hosting the (13-3-3-1) Edmonton Oil Kings Tuesday.

The Cougars have lost five in a row and nine of their last 10 to fall eight points out of a playoff spot.

BC Major Midget League: (Cariboo Cougars)

The Cariboo Cougars visit the (9-4-0-1) Fraser Valley Thunderbirds Saturday at 3:15 p.m. and Sunday at 11:45 a.m. in Abbotsford.

The (10-3-0-1) Major Midget Cougars are in 3rd place in the 11-team BCMML, a point behind the (11-5) Vancouver NW Hawks and a point ahead of the (10-4) Vancouver NE Chiefs.

The Cariboo Cougars have been given their official invite to compete in the Mac’s international midget hockey tournament in Calgary which begins on Boxing Day.

The Cougars won the prestigious Mac’s championship five years ago.

 

NHL: (Canadian teams went 2-2 on Tuesday)

The Canucks scored as many goals against the Predators as they had in their last four games.

Elias Pettersson (on his 21st birthday)  and Tanner Pearson each scored twice for the (10-6-3) Canucks who host Dallas Thursday.

Former PG Cougar Dennis Cholowski scored in overtime to give the Detroit Red Wings a 4-3 victory in Anaheim.

There are 5 Wednesday games in the NHL with three Canadian teams in action.

Calgary is home against Dallas. Toronto visits NY Islanders and Ottawa plays at New Jersey.

The other matchups have Washington at Philadelphia and Chicago at Vegas.

According to a report, Sidney Crosby is weighing all treatment options for a sports hernia, including surgery.

Crosby, who has 17 points in 17 games this season, would be looking at a timeline of four-to-six weeks should he undergo surgery.

Canada West Basketball: (UNBC Timberwolves)

The UNBC Timberwolves host the UBC Thunderbirds in Canada West basketball Friday night at 6:00 & 8:00 and Saturday night at 5:00 and 7:00 at the Northern Sport Centre.

UNBC is 3-1 in the men’s standings and 1-3 in the women’s division.

The Toronto Raptors are 2-1 on a five-game road trip that continues tonight in Portland.

The Raptors have won seven of their first 10 games overall.

NFL: (Week 11)

Could free-agent quarterback QB Colin Kaepernick be headed back to the NFL?

The 32 league teams have been informed that a private workout will be held for Kaepernick on Saturday in Atlanta.

The session will include on-field work and an interview.

Kaepernick has been out of the NFL since 2016, the year he began protesting police brutality and racial injustice by kneeling during the pregame national anthem.

Week 11 of the NFL season begins Thursday with Pittsburgh at Cleveland.

CFL: 

The CFL division finals will be played Sunday.

In the East, Edmonton plays at Hamilton (10:00 a.m. PT).

In the West, Winnipeg visits Saskatchewan (1:30 p.m. PT).
