Semi-truck fire being reported near Hixon

The North District RCMP are looking into a semi-truck fire near Hixon this morning (Wednesday).

Cpl. Madonna Saunderson recently spoke with MyPGNow on what they know so far.

“At this time, we have limited information but we do know that a semi-truck is on fire as for the cause, we don’t know that yet but we do know that there are no reported injuries and I’m unsure at this time how this could impact the motoring public whether there are any closures or not.”

We’ll provide more information once it becomes available.

Callers to Vista Radio are reporting a semi-truck fire near Hixon this morning (Wednesday).

Anthony described what he saw after speaking with MyPGNow.

“At the bottom of Microwave Hill a truck is off in the tree line, it’s burning up and there is probably going to be a closure at some point but I just figured you might be able to get the word out and let everyone know to be safe. It’s Highway 97 on the southbound side, just 10 minutes out of Hixon.”

The North District RCMP are looking into the matter.

Cause of Nechako Bottle Depot fire remains unknown, investigation to commence this week

Prince George Fire Rescue Chief Fire Bryan Burleigh says an insurance adjuster has been assigned in the fire that destroyed the Nechako Bottle Depot Sunday, and an investigation will commence this week. Fire crews were called to the depot just before 5:00 Sunday morning, and spent much of the day battling the blaze before calling it extinguished in the evening.
