Gauthier stops 43 of 44 shots but the Cougars come up empty

The Prince George Cougars have hit the 20-game mark and are averaging less than two goals per game (39 total).

For the second time this season the Cougars were shutout, as the Blazers posted a 1-0 victory over Prince George before 5,416 fans Friday night in Kamloops.

It was the first of nine meetings this season between the two teams.

In one of his top performances of the seasonTaylor Gauthier blocked 43 of 44 shots but it was not enough to prevent the Cougars from suffering their sixth straight loss.

Rayce Ramsay made 23 saves for his second shutout of the season.

Matthew Seminoff scored the game’s only goal 38-seconds into the third period.

Seminoff tally was from near the goal-line on the right-wing, as he found space between the post and Gauthier.

The Cougars best chance to get on the scoresheet was in the first period but Ethan Browne was stopped by Ramsay on a penalty-shot.

The (14-6) Blazers move six points ahead of the second-place Vancouver Giants in the BC Division.

The (4-14-0-2) Cougars play the (10-8-1-1) Giants tonight in Langley.

Prince George has lost nine of its 14 games in regulation by one goal, not counting empty netters.

The Cougars have slipped 10 points out of a playoff spot.

Cougars drop final preseason matchup in Quesnel

The Prince George Cougars capped off the preseason with a 3-2 overtime loss to the Kamloops Blazers at the West Fraser Centre in Quesnel. Dmitri Yakutsenak, a new import player for the Cougars, opened the scoring 15:17 into the opening frame, with Kayden Lemire and Carson Carels picking up assist. 

Wild fourth quarter ends in a tie for Kodiaks and Huskers

Possibly the most anti-climactic finish to an exciting final few minutes, the Prince George Kodiaks and Valley Husker fought hard to a 35-35 draw."Tough team, Chilliwack's a good team, we found a way to hurt ourselves again, that's eight games in a row of hurting ourselves," said Kodiaks Head Coach Jamie Boreham.
