This is a weekly podcast during the Prince George Cougars season featuring the ‘who’s who’ of the team.

Hartley’s guest this week is Prince George hockey product and former NHL’er Stu Malgunas.

Malgunas talks about being an assistant coach for the PG Cougars from 2003 to 2007.

He also chats with Hartley on how he overcame major injuries to play pro hockey for over 10 years, what it was like to coach Dustin Byfuglien and memorable highlights from his career.

Since moving to Prince George in 2015, Brendan has covered local sports including the WHL’s Prince George Cougars, Prince George Spruce Kings, UNBC Timberwolves, Cariboo Cougars AAA, and Northern Capitals U18 female hockey teams. Career highlights include play-by-play during the Spruce Kings' BCHL championship runs in 2018 and 2019, including the Doyle Cup win. He also covered the 2019 National Junior A Championship, the 2017 Telus Cup, the 2022 World Women’s Curling Championship, and the 2022 BC Summer Games. Brendan is the news voice on 94.3 The Goat and Country 97 FM, reporting on crime, real estate, labour, and environmental issues. Outside of work, he officiates box lacrosse and fastball, sits on the Prince George Sports Hall of Fame board, and co-hosts the Hockey North podcast.

City providing funding support for Nordic Olympic Qualifiers

City of Prince George
Prince George City Council has approved funding to support the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club in hosting the 2026 Olympic Winter Games Trials in December.  At this week's meeting, City Council approved $40,000 from the Major Events Reserve to support the event, which is set to take place December 10th to 16th.
