Local gas stations hike fuel prices by twelve cents

Prince George gas stations have thrown in the towel when it comes to competing with Costco.

The retail chain has the lowest price in the city at 111.9 cents a litre, while most other stations are 12 cents higher at 123.9.

Canadians for Affordable Energy President, Dan McTeague recently spoke with MyPGNow.com.

“Gas stations understand that when you’re principal business is selling gasoline not hot dogs and furniture, you can’t really compete with people who are able to use in-store profits to subsidize no gain when selling gasoline.”

“You just can’t sell enough beef jerky to make up the difference when you’re losing money.”

He adds local gas stations are losing too much money by selling gasoline at or below cost.
