Gauthier’s stellar play earns him a WHL accolade

After a solid weekend between the pipes against the Kamloops Blazers, Taylor Gauthier of the Prince George Cougars was named the WHL Goalie of the Week.

In a weekend split, Gauthier posted a 1.50 goals-against average, stopping 77 of 80 shots for a .963 save percentage.

Gauthier has also compiled a 3-2-0-0 record, 2.02 GAA, and a 0.954 SV%. in five games this season against the B.C. Division-leading Blazers.

On Friday, he made 40 saves and allowed two goals in a 3-0 loss to the Blazers.

On Saturday, Gauthier was first-star by blocking 37 of 38 shots in a 3-1 victory over Kamloops.

In 35 games this season, the 18-year-old from Calgary has posted a 9-19-3-4 record, 2.87 GAA, 0.917 SV%, and one shutout.

On the recent midterm rankings by NHL Central Scouting, Gauthier was ranked 27th among North American goaltenders.

The Cougars continue their six-game homestand Friday and Saturday against the Tri-City Americans.
